Preparation of Coffee Mixture

Brew the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

Mix Coffee and Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. Set aside.
Mascarpone Cream Preparation

Prepare Egg Yolks
In a medium bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Mix in Mascarpone
Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese until well combined and smooth.

Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Layering the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip 12 ladyfinger cookies in the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

First Layer
Arrange the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish.

Add Mascarpone Layer
Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
Finishing Touches

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
