Sauce and Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced red onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent.

  5. 5

    Combine with Sauce

Pour in the canned tomato sauce and add fresh basil. Simmer for about 5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Add Meatballs

Carefully add the baked meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.

  7. 7

    Add Mozzarella

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and cover until the cheese is melted.
