Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Begin by rinsing the fresh shrimp under cold water to remove any debris. Leave the shells on for the classic peel and eat experience.

  2. 2

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning, and 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.

  3. 3

    Add the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the shrimp to the pot. Stir gently to ensure the shrimp cook evenly.

  4. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Allow the shrimp to cook for 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Ice Bath

While the shrimp are cooking, prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with 4 cups of ice and cold water.

  6. 6

    Shock the Shrimp

Once the shrimp are cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer them immediately to the ice bath. This stops the cooking process and keeps the shrimp tender.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

After a few minutes in the ice bath, drain the shrimp and place them on a serving platter. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon over the shrimp for added flavor.

  8. 8

    Garnish

Garnish the shrimp with a bunch of fresh parsley and serve with cocktail sauce on the side.
