Preparation and Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ricotta cheese, and grated parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until combined.
- 2
Make the Ravioli
Using store-bought pasta sheets or homemade, place small spoonfuls of the beef and cheese mixture onto one sheet. Fold the pasta over to create a pocket and seal the edges with a fork to prevent the filling from escaping.
- 3
Prepare the Tomato Sauce
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent. Add the canned diced tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- 4
Cook the Ravioli
In a large pot of boiling salted water, carefully drop the ravioli. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until they float to the surface and are tender.
- 5
Combine and Serve
Once the ravioli are cooked, drain them and add them to the saucepan with the tomato sauce. Gently toss to combine. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
