Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well using your hands until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making sure they are slightly larger than the buns as they will shrink while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half. If desired, toast them lightly on the grill for extra flavor.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty on top, followed by lettuce and slices of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the burgers warm with a side of French fries.
