Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add 12 oz of fettuccine to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the fettuccine in a colander and set aside. Reserve a cup of pasta water for later use if needed.
Making Alfredo Sauce

- 5
Add Cream and Garlic
Once the butter is melted, add 1 cup of heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Stir well and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- 6
Incorporate Cheese
Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until smooth. The sauce should thicken slightly.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of salt. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Prepare Shrimp
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season 1 lb of peeled and deveined shrimp with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 9
Cook Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove from heat.

- 10
Combine Fettuccine and Sauce
