Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Ziti
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the ziti pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Mix Ricotta and Seasoning
In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
- 3
Combine Pasta and Bolognese
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti pasta and the bolognese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.
- 4
Layer the Dish
In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the bolognese pasta mixture on the bottom. Add dollops of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by another layer of the bolognese pasta. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of bolognese on top.
- 5
Top with Cheese
Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top of the dish. Drizzle with olive oil.
- 6
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
