Ingredients for Mazalica

Method

Directions for Mazalica

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour, kneading until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until soft. Add ground beef and veal, cooking until browned. Season with black pepper and paprika. Remove from heat and let cool. Crumble in the feta cheese and mix well.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Mazalica

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, divide it into equal portions. Roll out each portion into a flat circle. Place a generous amount of the meat and feta filling in the center. Fold the edges over to create a semi-circle and pinch to seal.

  4. 4

    Bake

Place the assembled Mazalica on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
