Dry Ingredients
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add 1/2 cup (1 stick) of cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes, to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Milk
Slowly pour in 3/4 cup of milk, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Shape the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers.
- 6
Cut the Biscuits
Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits from the dough. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- 8
Serve
Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve warm with butter.
