Method
For the Fried Chicken
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and chicken breasts. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Prepare the Coating
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, then carefully place in the hot oil. Fry for 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
For the Sweet Tea Glaze
Prepare the Glaze
In a saucepan, combine sweet tea, brown sugar, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.
Thicken the Glaze
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry. Add to the simmering glaze and stir until thickened. Remove from heat.
