Method
Prepare the Crab Cake Mixture
- 1
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.
- 2
Form the Crab Cakes
Once the mixture is well combined, form it into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1 inch thick. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Chill the Mixture
Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help the crab cakes hold their shape during cooking.
Cook the Crab Cakes
- 4
Preheat the Broiler
Preheat your oven's broiler on high, ensuring the rack is positioned about 6 inches from the heat source.
- 5
Broil the Crab Cakes
Remove the crab cakes from the refrigerator and place them under the broiler. Broil for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Assemble the Sandwich
- 6
Prepare the Rolls
While the crab cakes are broiling, slice the soft sandwich rolls in half and toast them lightly if desired.
- 7
Build the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each roll, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. Then, carefully place a broiled crab cake on top of the tomato.
- 8
Add Toppings
Spread tartar sauce over the crab cake and top with the other half of the roll.
- 9
Serve
Serve the Maryland crab cake sandwiches with lemon wedges on the side for added freshness.
