Prepare the Patties

For Ground Beef or Chicken Patties
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1 inch thick.

For Vegetable Patties
If using store-bought vegetable patties, simply remove them from the packaging. If making homemade, follow your favorite recipe to prepare the patties.
Cook the Patties

Grilling or Pan-Frying
Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef or chicken patties. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) for chicken and 70°C (160°F) for beef. For vegetable patties, cook according to package instructions or until heated through.
