Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients needed for the grilled cheese sandwich. Slice the cheddar cheese into even slices, if not pre-sliced.
Cooking
- 2
Butter the Bread
Spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- 3
Assemble the Sandwich
Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Layer the cheddar cheese on top of this slice, then place the second slice of bread on the cheese, buttered side up.
- 4
Grill the Sandwich
Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the assembled sandwich in the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown.
- 5
Flip and Grill
Using a spatula, carefully flip the sandwich over to grill the other side. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan if needed. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 6
Serve
Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the pan. Let it sit for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
