Preparing the Cheese Sticks

Cut the Cheese
Slice the mozzarella cheese into 1/2 inch thick sticks.

Bread the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in the bread crumbs, ensuring they are well coated. Repeat for all sticks.

Freeze the Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Making the Marinara Sauce

Sauté Garlic
Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.

Cook the Sauce
Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Frying the Cheese Sticks

Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Cheese Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cheese sticks and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
