Method
Prepare the Beef Patty
- 1
Season the Beef
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cook the Patties
- 3
Preheat the Grill/Pan
Heat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, lightly grease the surface with oil.
- 4
- 5
Add Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
Prepare the Toppings
- 6
Prep the Lettuce and Tomato
Wash the lettuce leaves and pat them dry. Slice the tomato into rounds.
- 7
Prepare the Special Sauce
In a small bowl, mix your special sauce ingredients (if preparing from scratch) or have it ready to use.
Assemble the Burger
- 8
Toast the Buns
Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 9
Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and finally, top with the special sauce. Cover with the top half of the bun.
