Method

Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper. Then, set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for bread crumbs.

  2. 2

    Bread the Chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs. Ensure the chicken is fully coated.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken breasts. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.

Biscuits

  1. 4

    Make the Biscuit Dough

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 5

    Add Buttermilk

Stir in the buttermilk until just combined. Do not overmix. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.

  3. 6

    Shape and Bake the Biscuits

Roll the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Sausage Gravy

  1. 7

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the breakfast sausage. Cook until browned and crumbly.

  2. 8

    Make the Gravy

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Slowly add the milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Eggs

  1. 9

    Cook the Eggs

In a small skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Cook to desired doneness (sunny side up, over easy, etc.).
