Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until fully mixed.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.

  6. 6

    Pour Into Pans

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy.

  2. 10

    Add Cocoa Powder

Gradually add the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.

  3. 11

    Incorporate Sugar and Milk

Slowly add the powdered sugar and milk alternately, mixing until smooth and creamy.

  4. 12

    Add Vanilla

Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

  5. 13

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread the frosting on top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
