Brioche Ingredients

Method

Brioche Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F), sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Brioche

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or individual rolls. Place in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped dough and let it rise again for about 30-60 minutes until puffy.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake the brioche for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Let the brioche cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
