Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Scallops

Rinse the sea scallops under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Ensure they are completely dry to achieve a good sear.

2

Season the Scallops

Sprinkle the scallops with salt and black pepper on both sides, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Cooking

3

Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.

4

Sear the Scallops

Add the scallops to the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms.

5

Flip the Scallops

Carefully flip the scallops using tongs and sear the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

6

Prepare the Lemon Butter Sauce

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

7

Finish the Sauce

Stir in the fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley. Cook for an additional minute, then season with salt and pepper to taste.

8

Combine and Serve

Return the seared scallops to the skillet, spooning the lemon butter sauce over them. Cook for another minute to warm through, then plate and serve immediately.
