Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cavatappi pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Bechamel Sauce

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly, until golden.

  3. 3

    Add Milk and Cheeses

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Add the Parmesan, Smoked Gouda, and Gruyere cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Fold the cooked cavatappi into the cheese sauce until well combined. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Garlic Bread Crumbs

In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs with a tablespoon of melted butter and additional minced garlic (if desired). Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.

  6. 6

    Top and Bake

Sprinkle the garlic bread crumbs over the mac and cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your creamy, cheesy mac and cheese!
