Onion Rings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Slice the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water to create a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off before placing it in the hot oil.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Fry the onion rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the onion rings hot with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
