Flatbread

Method

Flatbread Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Chipotle Cream Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a bowl, combine the sour cream, chipotle peppers, lime juice, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth.

  2. 6

    Adjust Flavor

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Set aside.

Flatbread Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 8

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 9

    Bake the Flatbreads

Place the rolled flatbreads on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  4. 10

    Add the Toppings

Remove the flatbreads from the oven and sprinkle the smoked gouda and Hawaiian marinated mozzarella evenly across the top. Return to the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes until the cheese has melted.

  5. 11

    Finish with Shiso

Remove from the oven and garnish with shiso chiffonade. Drizzle the chipotle cream sauce over the top before serving.
