Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Kalo and Ulu

Peel the kalo (taro) and ulu (breadfruit) and cut them into bite-sized cubes. Rinse under cold water and drain.

  2. 2

    Season the Cubes

In a large bowl, combine the kalo and ulu cubes. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss until all pieces are evenly coated.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Fry the Kalo and Ulu

Add the seasoned kalo and ulu cubes into the hot skillet in a single layer. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Do this in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.

  3. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, remove the kalo and ulu from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with fresh chopped cilantro before serving.
