Base Ingredients

Method

Ice Cream Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Flavoring

Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.

  3. 3

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Churning the Ice Cream

  1. 4

    Churn the Base

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Flavors

During the last 5 minutes of churning, add in your choice of chocolate syrup, crushed cookies, or fresh fruit to incorporate into the ice cream.

Freezing

  1. 6

    Transfer to Container

Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container.

  2. 7

    Freeze

Place the container in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
