Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the top sirloin steak with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steak and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust time for desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Making the Butter Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic and Parsley

Once melted, add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in chopped parsley and lemon juice, then remove from heat.

Preparing the Bordelaise Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook Shallots

In a saucepan, add red wine and minced shallots. Bring to a boil and simmer until reduced by half.

  2. 7

    Add Beef Stock and Thyme

Stir in the beef stock and thyme, and simmer for another 10 minutes until thickened.

  3. 8

    Finish with Butter

Remove from heat and whisk in the butter until melted and combined.

Preparing Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 9

    Boil Potatoes

In a pot, bring water to a boil. Add diced potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 10

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add minced garlic, milk, butter, and salt. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 11

    Sauté Vegetables

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add mixed vegetables and season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

Serving

  1. 12

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, serve the sliced top sirloin steak, drizzle with butter sauce and Bordelaise sauce, alongside a generous scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.
