Method
Prepare the Burger Patty
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Prepare Toppings and Assemble
- 5
Slice the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and set aside.
- 6
Toast the Buns (optional)
If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 7
Assemble the Burger
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slices, and onion rings. Add any desired condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise) before placing the top half of the bun on.
