Method

Burger Patties Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover the grill or skillet to help melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.
