Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the brewed espresso, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a serving dish.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

  2. 4

Mix the Egg Yolks and Sugar

In another bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  3. 5

    Combine with Mascarpone

Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture and gently fold until smooth and well combined.

  4. 6

    Fold in Whipped Cream

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated, being careful not to deflate the cream.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Layer the Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of soaked ladyfingers in the serving dish.

  2. 8

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.

Finishing Touches

  1. 9

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  2. 10

    Serve and Garnish

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
