White Sauce

Method

White Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it is bubbly.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a paste (roux).

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Season the Sauce

Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare the Mozzarella and Parmesan

In a large bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese and grated parmesan cheese.

  3. 7

    Spread the White Sauce

Spread the prepared white sauce evenly over the base of your choice (like pizza dough or flatbread).

  4. 8

    Add Cheese Toppings

Sprinkle the mozzarella and parmesan mix generously over the white sauce.

  5. 9

    Bake

Place in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

  6. 10

    Prepare the Arugula Salad

While the cheese is baking, in a bowl, combine arugula, olive oil, lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss to combine.

  7. 11

    Add Prosciutto

Once the cheese is done baking, remove it from the oven and top with slices of prosciutto followed by the dressed arugula.

  8. 12

    Serve

Slice and serve immediately while hot.
