Method

Cheesesteak Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Slice the ribeye steak thinly against the grain. Season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

Place the white American cheese over the cooked steak in the skillet. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the hoagie rolls open and fill each with the cheesy steak mixture. Top with caramelized onions and a drizzle of roasted garlic aioli before serving.

Caramelized Onion Directions

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

Cut the large onion into thin slices.

  2. 6

    Caramelize the Onion

In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

Roasted Garlic Aioli Directions

  1. 7

    Roast the Garlic

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the top off the garlic head to expose the cloves. Drizzle with olive oil and wrap in foil. Roast for about 30-35 minutes until soft.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Aioli

Once the garlic is cool, squeeze the cloves into a bowl and mash with a fork. Mix in the mayonnaise and lemon juice, and season with salt to taste.
