Instructions for Preparing Chocolate Fondant

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease and flour four ramekins.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together. You can do this over a double boiler or in the microwave. Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Whisk Eggs and Sugar

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is pale and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour and add a pinch of salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before inverting onto plates. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
