Bread Sticks

Tomato Sauce

Method

Bread Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.

  2. 2

    Add Water and Oil

Pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Bread Sticks

Once the dough has risen, punch it down, then roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide and shape into sticks.

  6. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Place the shaped bread sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, parmesan cheese, and dried oregano.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 8

    Heat Olive Oil

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 9

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 10

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well.

  4. 11

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 12

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper as needed.

  6. 13

    Serve

Serve the tomato sauce warm alongside the bread sticks.
