Espresso Syrup

Mascarpone Cream

Lady Fingers

Method

Espresso Syrup Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Espresso Syrup

Brew the espresso coffee and combine it with granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves completely. If using, add coffee liqueur and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Mascarpone Cream Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Mascarpone Cream

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and powdered sugar until pale and creamy. In another bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture. Then, fold in the whipped cream until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Assemble the Tiramisu

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso syrup, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers. Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 4

    Chill and Serve

Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with shaved dark chocolate if desired.
