For the Chicken Fried Steak

For the House Country Gravy

For the Home Fries

For the Eggs

Method

Prepare the Chicken Fried Steak

  1. 1

    Step 1: Prepare the Breading

In one bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs and milk together.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Bread the Steaks

Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg mixture, and back into the flour to ensure a thick coating.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Fry the Steaks

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the breaded steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Make the Country Gravy

  1. 4

    Step 1: Create the Roux

In the same skillet, remove excess oil, leaving about 2 tablespoons. Whisk in flour and cook for about 1 minute.

  2. 5

    Step 2: Add Milk

Gradually add milk while continuously whisking to prevent lumps. Cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Prepare the Home Fries

  1. 6

    Step 1: Cook the Potatoes

Dice the potatoes, onion, and bell pepper. In a separate skillet, heat vegetable oil and add the diced vegetables. Cook until potatoes are tender and golden, about 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook the Eggs

  1. 7

    Step 1: Fry the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your liking. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve

  1. 8

    Step 1: Assemble the Plate

On a plate, serve the chicken fried steak topped with gravy, alongside home fries and eggs.
