French Toast Base

Cooking

Method

Prepare the Stuffing

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mix the Stuffing

Once the onions are caramelized, remove them from heat and let cool slightly. In a bowl, combine the caramelized onions, crumbled goat cheese, chopped thyme, and parsley. Mix until well combined.

Prepare the French Toast Base

  1. 3

    Mix the Egg Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until well blended.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Take the thick slices of bread and create a pocket in each slice, making sure not to cut all the way through.

Assemble and Cook

  1. 5

    Stuff the Bread

Take the onion and goat cheese mixture and stuff it into the pocket of each slice of bread, ensuring they are well filled.

  2. 6

    Dip and Cook

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Dip each stuffed bread slice into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak briefly, then place it in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
