In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
- 2
- 3
Mix the Batter
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are okay.
Fried Chicken
- 4
Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken thighs in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- 5
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Remove chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until well coated. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
Waffle Assembly
