Chicken Marinade

Side Dishes

Method

Chicken Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Add the chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Breading

  1. 3

    Mix the Breading Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 4

    Bread the Chicken

Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Set aside on a wire rack.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully add the breaded chicken pieces to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry in batches for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  3. 7

    Drain the Chicken

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

Side Dishes

  1. 8

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Boil peeled and chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste.

  2. 9

    Cook Green Beans

In a pot, bring water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and cook for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and season with salt and pepper.
