Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the cake.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cake Pans

Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  4. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water to the batter. The batter will be thin, but that's normal.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

  1. 9

    Make the Frosting

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder and mix until smooth.

  2. 10

    Combine with Milk and Sugar

Remove from heat and stir in the milk, followed by the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.

  3. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  4. 12

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy your rich chocolate cake with fudge frosting!
