Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for 2-3 minutes to create a roux. Gradually add the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the yellow cheddar cheese until fully melted. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.

  5. 5

    Prepare Topping

In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with olive oil until evenly coated. This will create a crispy topping.

  6. 6

    Assemble and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a baking dish and evenly spread the bread crumb mixture on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Royal Mac & Cheese!
