Base Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

Optional Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the cake bakes evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent sticking.

Mixing the Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. Whisk until smooth.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

  4. 6

    Add Optional Toppings

If using, fold in the chocolate chips gently into the batter.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour and Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  2. 8

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature. Top with whipped cream and fresh berries if desired.
