Burger Assembly

Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Patty Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Bourbon BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 15 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 5

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the applewood smoked bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet and let drain on paper towels.

  2. 6

    Grill the Patties

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness is reached. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, layer lettuce, a cheesy burger patty, crispy bacon, and pickles. Drizzle with the bourbon BBQ sauce.

  2. 8

    Serve

Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
