Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Biscuits
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 2
Shape and Bake the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- 3
Make the Sausage Gravy
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Jimmy Dean sausage until browned and crumbled. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir for about 1 minute. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
- 4
Serve
Split the warm biscuits in half and ladle the sausage gravy over the top. Enjoy your homemade biscuits and gravy!
