Burger Patty

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal parts and shape each part into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them over. If you're adding cheese, place a slice on each patty after flipping.

  3. 5

    Finish Cooking

Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce and slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns (optional)

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, a slice of tomato, a few rings of onion, and your desired amount of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
