Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pig

Ensure the pig is properly cleaned and prepared for roasting. Season the pig inside and out with your choice of spices and marinade.

  2. 2

    Set Up the Roasting Equipment

Set up a large roasting pit or a commercial rotisserie grill. Ensure you have enough charcoal or wood for a long cook.

Roasting

  1. 3

    Roast the Pig

Place the pig on the spit or in the roasting pit. Roast for approximately 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 190°F (88°C). Baste periodically for moisture.

Preparing Side Dishes

  1. 4

    Cook the Baked Beans

Prepare baked beans according to your recipe or use canned beans. Heat them on the grill or stove.

  2. 5

    Prepare Buttered Corn

Steam or boil corn and toss with butter and seasoning.

  3. 6

    Make Cole Slaw

Combine shredded cabbage and carrots with mayonnaise and vinegar dressing.

  4. 7

    Prepare Pasta Salad

Cook pasta and toss with vegetables, dressing, and any additional proteins you'd like.

  5. 8

    Bake Corn Bread

Prepare cornbread batter and bake in the oven or on the grill until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Meal

Once the pig is done, carve it and serve alongside your side dishes. Make sure to serve with sauces if desired.
