Pudding Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pudding Base

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the whole milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble, approximately 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bananas

While the pudding is cooling, slice the bananas into thin rounds. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Pudding

In serving dishes or a large bowl, layer the pudding and sliced bananas. Start with a layer of pudding, followed by a layer of bananas, and repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.

  4. 4

    Chill and Serve

Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set. Serve chilled.
