Method

Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes prior to cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned ribeye steaks to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes without moving them for a good sear.

  5. 5

    Add Butter and Aromatics

Flip the steaks and add butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary to the pan. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, basting the steaks with the melted butter.

  6. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 9

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher until smooth.

  3. 10

    Add Ingredients

Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix until creamy and well combined.

  4. 11

    Serve

Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the ribeye steak.
