Method
Prepare the Fondant
- 1
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until pale and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while continuously whisking. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- 4
Add Flour
Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and fold gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the fondant batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. The edges should be set, but the center should still be soft.
- 8
Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let the fondants cool for 1-2 minutes before carefully inverting them onto plates.
Serve
- 9
Add Ice Cream
Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream next to each warm chocolate fondant on the plate.
- 10
Garnish (Optional)
Add fresh berries on the side for a pop of color and flavor, if desired.
- 11
Enjoy!
Serve immediately while the fondant is warm and gooey in the center.
