Method

Preparing the Prawns

  1. 1

    Coat the Prawns

In a mixing bowl, combine the peeled and deveined prawns with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the prawns are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or wok, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  3. 3

    Fry the Prawns

Carefully add the coated prawns to the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Making the Chili Garlic Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a separate pan, add a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic and sliced red chilies for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add soy sauce, honey, lime juice, and sesame oil to the sautéed garlic and chilies. Stir well and cook for another minute until combined.

  3. 6

    Toss Prawns in Sauce

Add the crispy fried prawns to the pan with the chili garlic sauce. Toss well to coat the prawns evenly in the sauce.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the chili garlic prawns to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately with lime wedges if desired.
