Roti Ingredients
Method
Roti Preparation
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water while kneading the flour into a soft, pliable dough. Continue kneading for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
Divide and Shape
After resting, divide the dough into equal-sized balls (about the size of a golf ball). Dust each ball lightly with flour and flatten it slightly.
Roll the Roti
Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 6-8 inches in diameter. Make sure to keep the thickness even.
Bake the Roti
Preheat the tandoor or oven to a high temperature. Carefully place the rolled-out roti on the tandoor's wall or on a baking tray if using an oven. Bake for about 1-2 minutes, or until it puffs up and develops light brown spots. Flip and cook for an additional 30 seconds if necessary.
