Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine urad dal flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, black pepper, and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Shape the Papadum

Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into thin circles using a rolling pin, dusting with rice flour to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Dry the Papadum

Place the rolled papadums on a clean surface and allow them to dry for about 1-2 hours until they are no longer sticky.

  4. 4

    Fry the Papadum

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the dried papadums one at a time until they puff up and turn golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot as a snack or appetizer with your favorite chutney or dip.
